Will the QA tester able to claim story points in moving a bug from verification to closed?

The way we are organized in JIRA is that the QA team is in a different sprint than the development team. And for a BUG that get raised by the QA team is set to verification state by the Developer. But now since the QA team wants to verify the BUG to close the bug in their sprint how will they be able to claim it in their sprint ?
