Hi everyone,
I’ve been working with different tools and applications on Windows, and I’ve noticed something confusing.
Even when the system meets all the stated requirements (correct version, dependencies installed, etc.), some tools still fail to run properly or behave inconsistently across different machines.
For example, a setup works perfectly on one system but shows errors or crashes on another with similar specs.
I’d like to understand:
- What are the common hidden causes behind this?
- How do you usually debug such issues in real-world scenarios?
- Do you prefer clean environments (fresh installs, VM setups) or fixing issues within the existing system?
Would appreciate insights from people who deal with this regularly.

Welcome to the Atlassian community.
This is a user forum focused on the Jira Service Management, a product from Atlassian. This is not the right place for question about the Windows operating system unless the questions pertain to the Atlassian products on that OS.
You should ask Windows questions in the MS Windows Community:

Is your question about running a Jira or other Atlassian Data Center products on Windows Server? It is depending on the product often more than just the specs and also the way it is setup and more. I prefer to try to fix the issues and understand the root cause before exchanging the whole environment for example for a Jira Service Management.
