Hello,

I need how to upgrade jira service desk with ".obr" file without internet.

The server cannot access internet, so they need to install with file.

I know that we can uninstall service desk and install new version with the service desk obr file to upgrade.

They said that it is failed to install. In case of this, is it related with jira upm?

And they would like to know if there is any method to upload the service desk obr file to server system to upgrade. Could you check we can install it with below step?

1. upload file to : <JIRA home diretory>/plugins/installed-plugins
2.  delete plugin caches of below directories.

JIRA_HOME/plugins/.bundled-plugins
JIRA_HOME/plugins/.osgi-plugins (just these two)

3. Restart the jira.

Thank you.

Regards,

Seungmin.Lee

Hi Seungmin,

While you can upgrade Jira and Jira Service Desk without internet access, the process is not as straightforward as it may seem. Let's examine the process from end to end. I am operating under the assumption that you are working to upgrade a Jira Software server that has Jira Service Desk installed on it as well.

  1. Visit the Jira downloads page to select and download the installer for the version of Jira Software you want to upgrade to
  2. Copy the installer from your local machine over to the server you need to upgrade, and run the installer on the server to upgrade Jira Software
  3. Check the compatibility matrix to determine which version of Jira Service Desk goes with your updated version of Jira Software. As an example from the matrix, Jira Software 8.5.1 would require Jira Service Desk 4.5.1

  4. Visit the download archive for Jira Service Desk on Atlassian Marketplace to download the version of Jira Service Desk that you need
  5. Upload the .obr file in the Manage Apps page in Jira by clicking the Upload app link. (if you need more help with this step, please see the documentation on manually installing apps)
  6. Jira Service Desk should be updated 👍🏻

It sounds like for your case, either the underlying Jira Software install wasn't upgraded, or the .obr file is for a different version of Jira Service Desk than what it needs to be to match to Jira Software. Let me know if you need more help!

Cheers,
Daniel
