Set child field in workflow as required

Hi @Maurice Mushfieldt

As Pramodh mentioned, you can achieve this with our plugin Jira Workflow Toolbox, using our Fields Required or Changed validator. You would just have to follow this steps:

  • In the Fields section, search and select your cascading field.
  • And then, in Validation, select "is required".
  • If you want to, you can also add a customized error message so the users know exactly why the transition is failing.

With this configuration, both options will be mandatory. In the screenshot below you can see how the validator would look like:

Besides, with this validator you can validate as many fields as you need, and wether they:

  • Have a value set (is required)
  • Don't have a value set (must be empty)
  • Have changed (must be changed)
  • Haven't changed (must not be chamged)

Regarding the error messages, you can add translations so all the users or customers are able to understand what they have to do in order to execute the transition.

Hi Sergio, Yes thanks used Validation off Transition with some validation scripting.

It requires an add-on to achieve the same

  • JWT (Jira Workflow Toolbox)
  • Scripruner
