Service Desk Functionality: Cloud versus Server

Rich Bouchard
April 14, 2019

We're testing both products and I think I've noticed a difference I wanted to confirm.  In SD Cloud I can create an automation such that when an issue is created through one of the channels I can automatically create a task in a Jira Software project, then close the Service Desk ticket.  If I try and do the same thing on SD Server there is no such option.  Am I doing something wrong? or is this indeed a difference between SD Server and SD Cloud?

Thanks.

Hello Rich,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!
There are many differences between features and design in Jira Server and Cloud. Cloud has many features that Server doesn't have and vice-versa and for automation, this is not different. Service Desk Cloud has more options and it's easier to create automation rules.
You can find the differences for automation on the documentation below:
- For Server - Create a custom automation rule
- For Cloud - Supported automation rules

Regards,
Angélica
