Hi, I've found this KB article which describes how to Create Confluence Pages from Jira using Automation, however in this case, there is a specific Confluence page template that I want to use, and because that template is expected to change over time, I don't want to hard-code the details in the automation.
In addition, rather than adding an issue comment containing a link to the Confluence Page, I'd like to be able to add it to the "Confluence Pages" section of the Jira issue, which appears after selecting the "Link Confluence Page" button at the top of the view issue screen.
Is all of this possible via Jira automations, or do I need to seek our a third party solution?
You may try our app - Advanced Confluence Integration for Jira. With this app you can automatically create Confluence pages using native or custom templates. Created page is displayed on issue and also linked in the Confluence pages section.
For the first part, I would recommend installing a storage format add-on like Storage Format Editor for Confluence FREE | Atlassian Marketplace. This will give you the storage format of any page on Confluence. The advantage of this would be that you can create a template in Confluence in the usual way and then copy over the storage format value for your automation.
