I'm having this problem with the service desk. When ever any user goes to reset their password is comes up with this error. We have tried rebooting the server and
resetting the timezone to the correct timezone, but that hasn't worked. any ideas?
Are you using an external user directory with Jira? If so, is that directory in Jira set to Read Only? If so, it can create this scenario where users can't actually change their account details because Jira is not configured to be able to have the rights/permissions to alter those records.
If that isn't the case here, then I'd be interested to see if you can take a closer look at the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file at the time when a user tries to do this. If Jira is generating an error here, the details of any ERROR or WARN level logging message there will probably help us to better understand why this is happening to the end user.
If that doesn't help, I'd be interested to see if you can create a HAR file from the end users browser session when this happens to see if there are any sort of HTTP error codes here.
Thanks for this i'll let you know once we have gone through all your suggestions. thank you!
