Hi everyone.

I'd like to know if there's a free tool that connects my Kanban board to a bot that sends messages to a messaging app, so the team is aware of tasks in progress and those that have just been completed.

Does something like that exist?

You can use Jira automation to send web requests to external services API. 

I had such experience with sending issue data to Slack, to notify teams about changes in issue.

Welcome to the community.  Have you tried creating automation rule (Automation for Jira) to send messages to users when the issue is completed/in progress.

What messaging app are you going to use + a bit more details will allow us to assist you further.
