Hello - I am not a new user to JIRA and I've been active on the community for a few years. I understand a lot about the product but after upgrading to JIRA Core 7.13.0, I am having performance issues. All projects, boards, configuration and admin functionality to significantly slower. Unfortunately, Atlassian Support does not provide personal support for starter licenses so... here I am back in the Atlassian Community. Below is one of the many errors we are getting:

Message java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded

We are also receiving request timeouts, GC Errors (which should be resolved upon restart but is not) CPU spikes from 2% to 70% from one simple click. All kinds of issues. Please let me know how to fix this issue.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Thomas,

here's a relevant KB:

JIRA applications crash due to OutOfMemoryError GC Overhead Limit Exceeded

Perhaps your new host is inadequate compared to your old server.

Hi @Johan Soetens _Dumblefy_, thanks for the recommendation but the system, hardware and network did not change. We only upgraded the JIRA Core Instance. I've attempted these resolutions from the article but we are still seeing CPU Spikes upon each click. Even if I click to expand the comment section on a card, the CPU spikes from 0% to ~50%.

Guess I could look through the logs.

Thomas,

perhaps you lost some of your older customizations during the upgrade, please verify

Troubleshooting Performance Problems

Definitely go through the logs (Jira + system) and might as well try with a profiler since you're not getting full support.
