Hi All,
I have some questions and concerns pertaining to the JIRA Cloud Migration Assistant. Below are my queries.
1. Currently i'm running on 1 JIRA Service Desk instance (server version 3.2.0) which is my production environment. I understand that the Cloud Migration Assistant is a sort of function that I can download from the MarketPlace and will be make available under the Settings -> System functions. My question, will it be SAFE to run the JIRA Cloud Migration Assistant on my JIRA Service Desk instance without interrupting my daily JIRA Service Desk operation i.e. user raising tickets etc.
2. Or should I configure a test environment (1 to 1 copy of my production environment) and run the Cloud Migration Assistant there instead?
Appreciate your advice :)
Thanks.
Nasri.
Hello @Nasri Abdul Hamid
My recommendation is that you should plan to run the migration assistant only at a time when there will not be any activity within your Jira software and your system should be set to Read-Only. Otherwise information may be changing in the Jira issues while you are in the midst of trying to migrate the information.
You also should have a replica of your production instance that you can use as a source to execute test migrations before trying a migration of your production data.
If you have not already reviewed the information provided by Atlassian for assessing your environment, planning and executing your migration, I strongly advise you to review that information before proceeding.
