When selecting a specific transition for a service desk ticket, is it possible to create an issue automatically on the back of it?
You can use the built in Automation to create an issue when a JSD issue changes Status.

Using When and If only gives the following:

It's impossible on Jira Server (without any app). This option is not available in the Automation section, also as a post function on the workflow.
