How to skip approval in workflow if the approval field is not used?

Hi all - I created a request type form, which doesn't have a required field. 

How would I bypass this in a workflow?

OK, I ask because it's marked in the "Confluence" section.

Guessing here because I don't have the workflow in front of me, if the first status in the workflow is the approval status, I would create an Automation that would trigger on issue creation and execute a transition out to the status you want if the Approval field was empty.
