We're considering transitioning our support team over to jira service desk. We already use jira to manage development projects, but we just added service desk and I am trying to set it up for our service team but do not currently have admin access to jira. Is there a way that the current administrators can give me admin access to service desk only?
There's no separation - you're either an admin or you are not.
That said, most of the service desk config is done in the project - get your admins make sure you are a Service Desk agent and a project administrator for the service desk projects you are configuring.
