I created a hidden field called Work Hours, I need that field to have an automation that gets triggered if the value gets changed and is above 40 hours. I tried using the automation with the field "Work Hours:" with the following logic.  IF "work hours:" > 40 THEN Auto-approve/decline: Decline. But I am unable to use a edit issue option for the rule.

Hi Esteban,

While Jira Service Desk has some automation abilities, I am afraid that it is not able to set values into custom fields as an action at this time.  There is an existing feature request to add that in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDSERVER-4205

In the mean time, I did some more research and it appears that there is another plugin for Jira that can do this.  It might help to look at the Automation for Jira plugin.  In my testing I found that I was able to select my custom field as a field to be edited as an action of that automation rule.

I hope this helps.

Andy
