I want to add a rule on a next-gen Jira Service Desk workflow transition.
I set up the rule to assign the issue to the "Current User" (who I am assuming is the event triggerer), but every time someone triggers the transition I became the assigned.
Am I misunderstanding how this should work?
Hello @István Vigh,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
The option "Assign to the current user" it means that it's the current user that it's logged in.
Testing on my local site, I added this rule to a transition and when logged in with my main account, I transitioned the issue and it was assigned to me.
After that, I created a new issue and logged in with a test account. When transitioning the issue, it was assigned to the test account and not the main one.
With that said, the rule should work as you mentioned, when transitioning the issue, it should assign to the person that is triggering this.
Since in your case, when someone else transitions the issue and it's automatically assigned to you, it might be some automation or other rule.
Can you please check the Automation and also the Apps > Project automation to confirm if there is nothing overwriting the workflow rule?
Can you check the History on the ticket if it shows who changed the assignee?
Also, since you are a site administrator, you can impersonate a user, so if possible, log in as another user and transition the issue to check if it will be assigned to them or to you.
Regards,
Angélica
Hi Angélica!
Thank you for your answer, it helped me find the issue:
Project Settings > Automation, the rules have an option panel in the top right and there is an "Run rule as" option. It was set to me, instead of "User who triggered the rule".
Best Wishes,
