How do I share the Project Dashboard with the Project itself?

I have built the dashboard but when I try to share it to the project the project is not available from the dropdown selection window. Why can't I share the project dashboard with the project the dashboard was built for?

Dashboards are not project artefacts, they're global landing pages which could refer to many projects.  Are you talking about something other than a Jira dashboard?

Thanks Nic,

No, I made the dashboard and project separately but want to share the dashboard access with the project.

I was able to do it (share) successfully for one dashboard; when I 'view all dashboards' the correct project is reflected under that dashboard's 'Access' column.

However, I am not able to replicate this because whenever I make a subsequent new dashboard, with the correct project filter in its modules, no new projects are available from the 'Projects' selection under the 'Access' dropdown via 'Edit Dashboard'.

Essentially, any new projects aside from that first one which worked are excluded from 'Projects' when I try to set the 'Access' rights in 'Edit Dashboard'.

I made this project and dashboard the same as the first.  What the heck?
