While I see there is documentation on how to disable this feature in cloud, how can I prevent customers from creating new customer/jira accounts via the "create new customer" option in the user picker for Data Center? (Not server, sorry this got mis-tagged somehow.)
Hi Ada,
Thanks for using Community!
The option to prevent customers from signing up themselves and require an admin or agent to create an account for a customer within JSM Data Center is controlled within Settings > Applications > Configuration (under the Jira Service Management option).
From that page there is an option to set the option that only Admins can create accounts and customers cannot sign up on their own.
There is also a suggestion asking for the ability to restriction Agents from adding customers too, if this is also functionality you are interested in I would recommend voting and watching JSDSERVER-5463
Does that help to point you in the right direction on your question?
Thanks, Andy! I was aware of that setting, however it doesn't quite meet my needs.
We do want users to be able to submit Jira requests via email, which then requires that that setting be set to allow user-created accounts.
What I specifically want to disallow is creation via the user field where the prompt to "add new customer" shows up if there is no match to what the submitter typed in.
The use case is that sometime people don't enter an existing user's name/username/email correctly and assume there is no matching account so they decide to "create new".
Is there an administrative way to stop that "add new customer" option from being offered?

Ada,
Thanks for the clarification. I am unable to get that to show up. What type of field is that? It is possible it is not an out of the box field that is displaying that. So if you could provide me with a bit more detail around what field on that request type I might be able to do a bit more research around what controls that or if its a 3rd party vendor I could refer to their support team.
Best,
Andy

Thanks, Andy. It's a standard Jira User Picker (single user) field.

Ada,
Thanks for the quick follow up. I still can't replicate it locally, but it might be tied to the login free portal. Do you have the option enabled for the Login Free Portal within Settings > Applications > Configuration (under the Jira Service Management header)?
Best,
Andy
