Creating portal-only customer account in JIRA Service Desk

Hi everyone,

my organisation uses JIRA Software for its SDLC management. We are investigating the possible adoption of JIRA Service Desk to go along with it. I am currently on a 30-day trial of Service Desk. I would like to create a portal-only customer account, to simulate what a client would see when he/she logs into the system to create a ticket.

The text in the blue information box suggests this is done from directly in Service Desk (https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/your-atlassian-account-976161169.html)

However, I can't seem to find where to do this. I've been into Settings => User Management, and invited a user whilst checking only the JIRA Service Desk box, but this user ended up with access to other projects, which I don't want.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi @John Crain Welsby

Inviting users from user management section allows user to sign up for your instance.So you need customers from specific Jira service desk project. 

To manually invite customers:

  1. In your service desk project, select Customers and then select Invite customers
  2. Enter your customer's email address or invite multiple customers. Your customers will receive their new account details by email and will be added to the Service Desk Customer project role.

I have a follow-up query: how do I delete these accounts? There does not appear to be a delete option in the Customers section, and some of the accounts there do not appear in the People section of the service desk project settings page.
