We are setting up multiple JIRA Service Desks. I understand that each Service Desk is a separate project and each project can only map to one Confluence knowledge base space. Questions: if we set up 4 service desks, can each be mapped to a different Confluence space? And will searches at the Help Centre level include results from search the 4 spaces?

Yes, each of your Service Desks can be mapped to a different KB space.
And will searches at the Help Centre level include results from search the 4 spaces?
Yes, searches at the Help Center level provides results from all the spaces connected with the SD projects in this context. The only thing to remember is permissions to the SD projects and the KB spaces play a role whether a User/Customer can/cannot view the articles.
