Best practice to distinguish issues

Hello, 

What do you use to distinguish issues that belong to the same project/customer except the label.

We use a project for each customer, so if we wanna deploy something or there are a bunch of tasks and subtasks that relate to the same "theme", because when someone asks me to filter all the issues related to that and their worklog I have to label them, that doesn't seem like a practical solution.

All the suggestions are welcome.

You could use Epics for your Themes, and then group all issues relating to that under a particular Epic.
