Auto assign Subtask for Approval of every Customer

Ivan Simon Padros April 25, 2018

Hi all, I would like to know if there's a way to automate the creation of subtasks per each Service Desk Customer and auto assign each of them as approver of one of those created subtasks. The subtask would have associated an approval Workflow.

Practical Example: I create an issue for a Critical event in a country, like an earthquake in MEXICO, and I would like JIRA SD to create a subtask for that event for each customer to approve, meaning that they are OK, and safe.

Any ideas?

Thanks all in advance!

@Ivan Simon Padros

You can use ScriptRunner to do the auto-creation of the subtasks. Below is a list of steps to follow. Do you have a specific user for each organization that needs to approve or is it the organization as a whole? This determines that last portion of Script Context.

  1. Edit the Approval Workflow
  2. Edit the Transition where the sub-task needs to be created and select Post Function
  3. Click on Add Post Function
  4. Select the ScriptRunner Post-Function option, Click Add
  5. Select the Create Sub-task option
  6. Give a brief description of this post function.
  7. Select the Issue Type (sub-task)
  8. You can set the assignee in the Script Context area.

See below images for more details. If you need more scripting help for the Script Context area let me know.
