Very new to Jira Service Desk. I am trying to edit my workflow so that when an issues status is changed it doesnt prompt to alert customer or keep internal, it just changes the status. For example when I click Investigate, the status will change to Work In Progress, but not until I make a notation that would be sent to either the customer or recorded internally. Can this be bypassed OOTB or are add-ons needed?
If you are an admin you can add a screen that requires a comment to be added. The screen needs to be associated with the workflow transition going into WIP status and you can add a Validator to the transition to make the comment required.

Why would you use a different status when there is no validator, condition or post function?
You could do this with a status with the name you want and fire an event in the post functions which do not notificate anyone, but as a Jira administrator I would never let anyone create a new status when this status is for nothing.
