Roll up Jira Delivery Progress from level to level

We just started using JPD and have a large org (over 40 teams).  We have four levels in our Hierarchies.  We'll link delivery work at the level 4 work level and can track the progress with "Delivery progress" and "Delivery status".

The issues we're having is our Senior Leaders want to see progress but are having trouble from the work levels they want to view (level 1 and level 2).

Is there a setting to have all the Jira work linked to level 4 roll up to level 3, 2, and 1.

I don't have a lot of expertise in JPD but your question is interesting.  I've done a cursory review of the documentation here : https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-Product-Discovery-articles/Feature-update-Hierarchies-in-Jira-Product-Discovery/ba-p/2983037 and the answer to your question is not obvious to me ...

So as a Test -- I went to the fields section of one of my JPD Project Settings and added a Global Field (in this case I reused a client dropdown field I have on my work items).  When I used that as a filter, I did get a rolled up status (see screen shot below).

How does this help?  Let's change that client field to a client-project field (as an example).  And lets ensure that at some level in your Work Item hierachy, you require a value in that client-project field.  It seems to me this would useful for many purposes including generalized work item reporting in any number of reports (e.g. plans, dashboard, etc).  Your team may even be reporting time against some project-id???

Without more study and experimentation, this is the direction I would start with.  Use a Global Field at some higher level of work to associate with your JPD items.

Hope this helps.

I submitted the feedback to JPD and it sounds like it's a feature they want to add.  We have 5 levels in JPD and data doesn't carry over very well.  One level example of what I'm looking for but with multiple levels. Tree Example.png

Hi @Brian Pearcy

If you are open to try out an alternate mktplace solution to roll up progress in your Issue hierarchy in a tree view, take a look at

Issue Hierarchy

The app allows you to view your issues in a tree view along with the linked issues shown as child issue. Also you can filter your child issues as shown below.

In the hierarchy view you can view the % progress of your child issues as well. The app sums up the time spent / story points at each parent level. You can also view "%Completed" at each parent level based on status of child issues as per your requirement.

Do give it a try.

@Rahul_RVS this should be basic functionality built into the product.
