Hello,
Does anyone know if it's possible to link a custom global field created in JPD to Plans in JIRA? I'd like to visualize a timeline view based upon these two fields, however I don't see an option to do so.
I'm in the plan settings and see where you can update the fields that you'd like estimation to be based upon, however I don't see the global field I created in JPD as an option.
Hey @Marc HINTON ,
As far as I know, you can’t use JPD global fields like custom Start Date and End Date as scheduling fields in Jira Plans. Plans only works with Jira issue fields (Start date, Due date, or custom Jira fields), so those JPD-only fields won’t show up in the Plan settings.
There is an integration now between JPD and Plans where you can add an Idea field in your Plan, link ideas to Jira issues, and even group or filter by Idea. That’s great for tracking delivery progress, but it doesn’t let you schedule based on JPD fields.
If you need a timeline in Plans, the workaround is to sync your JPD dates into Jira issue fields (via automation or manually) and then use those in Plans. Otherwise, if your goal is just to visualize timelines for ideas, JPD’s own roadmap view supports global fields and works really well for that.

Hope this helps!
