Is it possible to link a Milestone on a JPD timeline to a project?

We use timelines to visualize progress across mulitple ideas / projects, and our users are missing a connection between the milestones and the ideas they represent. They would love to open the idea by clicking on the milestone.

Ideally, we would like to auto-generate milestones based on date fields on ideas, with a setting to assign different colours based on ideas and / or date fields (ie. all go lives in one colour or symbol, go/no go dates in another).

Hi, we're currently working on adding better support for hierarchies in the timeline view to do things like what you're describing.

In this example "refactor user profile data" might be a milestone that has 2 ideas (and you can clearly see their relationship. Would that help?

Hi @Philipp Rösch and welcome to the Community!

I suppose you refer to the markers you can add to your timeline as milestones? I think you're right: they are visual markers of important events, but they stand on their own. In JPD there is no link between a mark and ideas.

In delivery (traditional Jira spaces), adding work to releases can help you accomplish that link you are after. On a plan in Jira Premium, releases are displayed in a similar fashion on the delivery roadmap and work items can be tracked from the release they are associated with as you describe.

Hope this helps!
