Limiting Contributor Permissions

I've created a new role in Product Discovery for a user that would only be able to add to existing ideas but not create new ones. However, I can't seem to set a way to limit this permission as every Jira user that opens the Product discovery view has Contributor automatically. Is there any way we can fully restrict certain contributors down to only be able to view and add insight but not create?

Hi Lauren, the default behaviour for Contributors is that they can't create ideas, but they can add insights to ideas. 

question: in the project settings > access screen, is the project set to "Open", "Limited" or "Closed"

If it's set to "Open", I'd suggest making it "Limited" - that means that everyone will be able to open it as contributors, even if they have a license for the product (otherwise, if the project's open, they will be creators if they have a license, even if you give them a more restricted role)
