Leverage insights data into Idea

We have two use cases:

1. Get the description provided via the Chrome extension into the idea description when a new idea is created. Today the description only sits in the insight and the idea is blank when someone creates a new idea from the Chrome extension. With the lack of Zendesk integration, we are left with no other option.
2. We want to derive values of some custom fields based on some simple operations. Ex: Check for the presence of some labels from insights and set the custom field with a fixed value.

Both these could have been addressed if there was automation support for insights(I don't see a way to add conditions on insights. The formulas available to leverage insights are more mathematical for our use case.

My last option it seems would be to just create a Jira software project and get all field-level automation done. At that point, the only value JPD will add would be the ability to create and track delivery tickets and progress.

Hi Rohan,

1. Using the Chrome extension, you can add an idea and select 'Add a description'. Then you can copy-paste what you see on your screen - perhaps from Zendesk - and paste it here.

2. Your are correct that insights are not supported through Automation, I've taken note of your feedback for our future prioritisation.

@Rohan Swami the description is only added to the insight. Not to the idea issue itself. When a new idea is submitted we'd like the description of the idea to be populated.
