Formatting of Global Custom Fields

I have been replacing some of my Product Discovery custom fields with Jira Global Custom fields so that I can align some of my data better between Jira and Product Discovery. However when I add a Jira Global Custom field, I lose the ability to apply formatting to the field like I can when it's just a Product Discovery custom field.
Is there/Will there be a way to apply color formatting to the Global Custom fields?

You should be able to add that within the Global fields tab when editing the field!
