Why get rid of the useful text shortcuts?

I get that you want to push Jira forwards and make it easier to use, but text shortcuts do exactly that if you know them!

Typing h2. to get a header is so much easier and quicker than having to type my header, get my mouse, select my text and change it in the text admin menu over and over again.

Whats the thinking behind this?
