Pick a favorite tip or share one each week over the next 5 weeks with your organization’s Jira users. Drop these tips into Slack or Teams, on your company wiki, or even send them via email. It’s a great way to empower your end users. 🙌 Cheers to Community Champion @Josh Costella for providing us with some of the tips below! |
Tip #1: Bulk update your old labels ⭐️ Labels are an easy way to organize and categorize your team’s work. You can even add and manage labels in bulk. Check out the easy step-by-step guide for renaming your labels here.
Tip #2: Link related work items ⭐️ Use the "Link similar work items" function to show relationships between your tickets, such as one issue blocking another or one issue being a duplicate. You can link work items across different projects in Jira to streamline collaboration and increase visibility between teams. Here’s how to do it.
Tip #3: In scrum boards, the last column is everything ⭐️ In your scrum boards, the final column on the right is what Jira uses to count work items as “Done” in a sprint. It doesn’t have to include the final status in your workflow, but it probably should. Make sure your workflow statuses are mapped to the correct columns. See how to configure your columns here.
Tip #4: Comment with purpose
Tip #5: Create and save custom filters ⭐️ Create filters for frequently accessed issues, such as "My Open Issues" or "High-Priority Bugs." You can use Jira Query Language (JQL) for advanced searches and save the filters for reuse.
