I notice in Focus when I follow a Focus area that it doesn't send real time notifications when an update is posted. I see that there's only an option for a monthly email digest. Can we have the option to get real time updates when certain Focus areas are updated?
I know of the "for you" page and while it's pretty cool, it doesn't solve my problem of getting notifications when an update is made.
Related question: will the API be able to help solve this if we built some function/app that can pull updates and we create notifications? Would be nice to have in the Product though :)
Thank you for reaching out!
For real-time notifications on Focus Areas you're following, here's what's currently available:
In-app notifications — You'll receive an immediate notification via the bell icon in the top-right corner whenever a followed Focus Area is updated.
Slack / Microsoft Teams — If your organization has the Jira app configured for Slack or Microsoft Teams, notifications will also be delivered there. You can manage these preferences in your personal notification settings in Focus.
While we don't currently expose a public API for this, you can achieve more customized notification workflows using Automation rules. We support a trigger for 'Focus Area status updates' that can send notifications via email, Microsoft Teams, or Slack — with out-of-the-box pre-configured templates to help you get started quickly.
