"svn: SASL(-13): authentication failure: Password verification failed" when connecting to SVN 1.6 server using LDAP authentication

My company has an SVN 1.6.13 server running on a Fedora12 server set up for LDAP authentication to a Windows Active Directory.

Tortoise >=1.6 and CollabNet 1.7 clients can authenticate to the SVN server using their LDAP credentials fine.

Noticeably, CollabNet 1.6 and pysvn 1.6 clients fail to authenticate or negotiate authentication mechanism.

In FishEye, when using Add Repository->Test Connection, it results in the following output:

Unable to get info for the repository root for devsvn

svn: SASL(-13): authentication failure: Password verification failed

Unable to get Repository Root URL for devsvn:svn://devsvn.twistpair.local/svnroot/

Exception getting FishEye access control

svn: SASL(-13): authentication failure: Password verification failed

Error testing connection.

svn: SASL(-13): authentication failure: Password verification failed

Connection failed.

Is this FishEye error because the svnkit that comes w/ FishEye does not support SASL/LDAP?

Is there a supported way to run a latest svnkit that does?

Our production deployment has hit a major roadblock because of this unforseen problem.

Hi Paul,

You're right. The bundled svnkit-1.3.3.6708.jar does not seem to support SASL in 2.7.x.

This bug was reported here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/FE-3877

Looks like FishEye 2.8.x includes a fix for this problem. If you're using FishEye 2.7.x, could you please try to upgrade to 2.8.x?

Please let us know if this helps.

Kind regards,
Felipe Kraemer
