Crucible user directory - how to migrate away

Hello Everyone,

We have a older Crucible install that we still need to maintain until the remaining projects are migrated away/off of it.

Users are created on Jira, assigned permissions and Crucible is set to sync users from this directory. Jira/Confluence are being migrated to the Cloud however.

What is the best way to go about migrating off of Jira as a "User Directory".  Do I simply re-create each user manually to the local directory? If the user directory cannot be synced from, will users who are currently synced, still be able to login or will their permissions expire? Thank you for any insight you can give

Hi,

Users synced from Jira only exist in that directory. After Jira moves to Cloud and the sync endpoint is gone, those users disappear from Crucible and cannot log in. I recommend exporting the Jira Server user list before decommissioning it. Then, in Crucible under Administration > Users, groups, and security, recreate the accounts in the internal directory with identical usernames. Same usernames keep review history, comments, and committer mappings. Groups, permissions, and passwords need to be reconfigured. If your Jira Server was synced from LDAP or AD, point Crucible directly to that directory instead, for less manual work and unchanged logins.

One thing worth factoring in: Atlassian stopped selling Fisheye and Crucible on 13 May 2025, and support ends on 15 May 2028. So whatever you build now is a bridge, not a destination. If peer code review is the remaining use case, Bitbucket is the direction Atlassian points to.
