Jira issues not appearing on JIRA Board

I successfully install JIRA and created a project and a board but when I create issues within the project, they do not appear on my board Any ideas

I will tell you the way I know.

Once the board is created, click Board dropdown, and select the option Configure.
Create a filter of your choice and pick the filter from the dropdown Saved Filter.
Click, Back to Board to see the issues on your board as mentioned in your filter.
