Hey everyone! We're really excited to share something the Migrations and Data Center teams built together. Assessing your DC instance and then taking actions during a migration is painful, and we wanted to fix that. So we built a connected experience that takes you from understanding what's blocking your migration all the way to actually fixing it, without jumping between tools.
We're calling it the Insights to Acting journey. It's powered by Portfolio Insights for deeper migration assessment and the new Migration Cleanup tools we've added to Instance Optimizer for Jira.
Preparing a large Jira instance for cloud can feel like a fragmented process: you run an assessment to find blockers, only to be left with a manual, item-by-item cleanup task that stalls your momentum. We’ve unified this experience into a single Insights to Action journey to eliminate that friction. By connecting Portfolio Insights migration assessments directly with new Migration Cleanup tools in Instance Optimizer for Jira (IO4J), you can now move seamlessly through resolution. Instead of just seeing what is breaching Cloud guardrails, you get usage-based recommendations and the ability to bulk-remediate those issues directly within Jira.
This connected experience effectively closes the gap between your migration strategy and its actual execution by seamlessly syncing two key capabilities that are essential for success:
Portfolio Insights Assessment: It will not only surfaces exactly which guardrails your instance breaches and prioritizes the areas that most impact your specific migration, but also provide usage based insights into how to remediate those breaches & provide a 1 click connect to your DC instance.
Migration Cleanup in IO4J: Allows you to act on those insights immediately. You can scan, review, and resolve breaches in bulk, ensuring your instance is cloud-ready before you even begin the move.
The result is a continuous, automated path to a cleaner instance and a more predictable migration, without the need to jump between tools or handle manual data entry, where Atlassian tolls not only tells you “you have a problem” but also says “this is the resolution path” - before you migrate, not after you face issues.
If you’re a Jira Data Center admin, migration lead, or partner helping customers prepare for Cloud, start by running a Portfolio Insights migration assessment and then navigate to Portfolio Insights inside your adminhub and follow the steps:
1. Assess. Run your Portfolio Insights migration assessment to see which guardrails your instance breaches, with recommendations tailored to how your instance is actually used, so you focus on what truly matters for your move.
2. Act. From a recommendation, jump straight into Instance Optimizer for Jira to fix it.
Currently, we will launch it for the following products:
Automation rule cleanup: split, disable, or delete rules that exceed Cloud limits or are stale / never executed, all in bulk.
Advanced Roadmaps plan cleanup: clean up stale and orphaned plans (including those owned by deactivated users) in a single action.
3. Migrate with confidence. Once you re-assess after implementing the fixes, you can see your cleaned up rules and you carry a lighter, cleaner instance into Cloud.
Ready to migrate with confidence? The Insights to Action journey gives you everything you need to identify, prioritize, and resolve migration blockers - so your instance arrives in Cloud cleaner, leaner, and ready to run.
