Upcoming change to Data Center feature suggestions on jira.atlassian.com (JAC)

We're changing how we manage requests in jira.atlassian.com (JAC), our public backlog of improvements and suggestions that we receive from you.

What's changing

Currently, any customer with access to JAC can open a new feature suggestion for Data Center products. Starting 2 March 2026, only Atlassian staff will be able to create new Data Center feature suggestions in JAC.

However, you'll still be able to:

  • Search for existing Data Center issues in JAC
  • Watch, vote, and comment on existing Data Center suggestions and bugs

This change brings Data Center in line with our Cloud process, where customer ideas are already captured and curated by Atlassian staff (Support and other customer‑facing teams).

Why we're making this change

The suggestions process will be clearer and more focused. By having Atlassian staff create new requests in JAC:

  • Your feedback is less likely to get lost in backlog. Your ideas will be clearly described and visible to the right teams.
  • You’ll have a more accurate view of which requests are being considered, so you can focus your support and votes on ideas that are most likely to move forward.
  • You’ll have a consistent way to share your feedback across Atlassian Data Center products and Cloud apps.

How you can continue to share feedback

You still have many ways to share your feedback:

Our teams will review your suggestions, decide how best to capture and track them (which may include creating a public JAC issue), and use them as one of the inputs into how we prioritize work across Data Center and Cloud.

As a reminder from our announcement of Data Center end of life last September, our primary focus will be to provide technical support and deliver security updates for critical issues in our Data Center products and ensure your connectors to Atlassian Cloud run smoothly, helping you unlock the cloud as soon as possible.

Get involved in existing JAC requests

Watching, voting, and commenting on existing JAC requests helps us focus on what matters most to you. Your input shapes our plans for Data Center and Cloud. We’re committed to giving you a reliable, supported Data Center experience today, and helping you unlock an even better, more powerful experience in Cloud when you’re ready to move.

Hi @Anna Scisłowska ,

Thanks for sharing this and for the heads up!

One question — does this apply to all on-prem products/applications, or just a subset? (looking at JAC specifically)

To be exact, I'm wondering about Sourcetree (the same thing may apply to some other products as well). As it's a free product, there isn't a dedicated support channel for this (at least not through Atlassian Support). The forum is where people tend to post questions and/or report issues, but this isn't monitored by the product team at all. On the other hand, on JAC tickets, the response is quite good, and things get resolved relatively quickly. So, the question is - if you remove the ability for users to raise tickets there, how will the feedback get to the product team and the devs 👀

Thanks,
Tobi
