In this issue, we're covering the new features in Data Center 10.3, the Bamboo to Bitbucket Pipelines importer going GA, and what's new in Bitbucket Cloud with Agentic Pipelines and the AI-native SDLC.

What's new in Bitbucket Data Center

Now available: Bitbucket Data Center 10.3

Merge queues just got smarter. If you started using merge queues in 10.2, you'll like these two additions:

• Webhook events for merge queues. Hook into the merge queue lifecycle and trigger your own tooling (notifications, dashboards, CI integrations) as PRs move through the queue.

• Automatic cascade queuing. Cascading merges that land on a queue-protected branch now get queued automatically. No more manual steps to keep the chain moving.

Configurable password policies. Bitbucket now has built-in password policy controls for internal directory users. Set basic or custom complexity rules directly in the admin settings.

Bamboo to Bitbucket Pipelines importer is now GA

In April, we introduced the Bamboo to Bitbucket Pipelines migration tool in open beta. Since then, the team has been iterating based on your feedback, and the tool is now generally available.

The GA release now covers your full Bamboo footprint: build plans, deployment projects, and custom third-party plugins.

Even if you're not planning an immediate move, the audit command gives you a clear picture of your CI/CD complexity and what a migration would involve. Worth running just for the visibility.

What's new in Bitbucket Cloud

Agentic Pipelines now supports Claude Code and Codex

In April, we previewed Agentic Pipelines and mentioned Claude Code CLI support was coming. It's here.

If your team uses Claude Code, you can now run it as a provider in Agentic Pipelines. No extra infrastructure, no glue code. Add one line to your bitbucket-pipelines.yml:

Rovo Dev is still the default provider. Claude Code is the first third-party CLI, with more on the way.

Agentic Pipelines remains in open beta. You need a Bitbucket Cloud repo to get started. You don't need to be an existing Pipelines user.

How Bitbucket Cloud is adapting to the AI-native SDLC

AI tools have changed how code gets written. But the bigger shift is everything around the code: the size and pace of changes is increasing, conventional review rituals are struggling to keep up, and the number of non-coding tasks keeps growing. Atlassian recently shared how Jira and Bitbucket are evolving together for AI-native software development, covering Agentic Pipelines, AI-powered code reviews, and the MCP Server that connects your AI tools directly to your repos.

Some numbers from Atlassian's own engineering teams: a 19% increase in PR throughput, and developers saving 2 to 3 hours per week after adopting these workflows. Repos where three to five team members used Rovo Dev saw PR throughput jump 59 to 87%.
