phpBB integration with Crowd and Confluence

Has anyone successfully integrated phpBB or other forum software (Vanilla, vBulletin, etc.) with Crowd for SSO authentication and security groups?

I came across this reference to a sourceforge project and support forum but it has very little activity, dating back to 2009.
