Crowd setup with AD failover

Is it possible to set up multiple AD connectors for a single directory? One of our two AD servers went down earlier today and I realized that this makes Crowd and the applications that depend on it go down. AD is built for failover like this; is such a setup possible in Crowd?

Hi, currently Crowd does not support LDAP failover, but there is an improvement request already opened for this here. You may add yourself as watcher and include your comments there.

The original poster did not respond, so what is the setup if the AD servers are not behind a VIP?
