Crowd and other applications not accessible with [crowd.manager.application.ApplicationServiceGener

I am using Crowd 4.4 and still facing the issue

 [crowd.manager.application.ApplicationServiceGeneric] Directory 'example directory' is not functional during authentication of 'example user'. Skipped..

Crowd console goes down as soon as one of the LDAP directories fail to connect, directory for failover authentication is not working. Jira/Confluence and everything connected to Crowd goes down. Unable to understand why.
