Crowd : Active Directory : No users in "Domain Users" but there are in "Domain Admins"

Using crowd against a fairly standard AD setup.

I've turned caching off.

The UI reports direct members of "Domain Admins" as expected, yet exactly the same grouping for "Domain Users" does not show anything..

I think you're hitting this bug:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CWD-1286

Crowd should be able to pick up members (which it sounds like is happening), but 'domain users' is a special group. Please comment on that bug report if you're really needing it implemented. If you can't find any workarounds that work for you (such as creating separate JIRA or Confluence groups in AD), comment here and we'll try to sort out a good workaround.

addendum: I can also add users to the group, but it still shows no members.
