Crowd 2.3 Rest API HTTP Auth

Can anyone send me in the right direction for setting up HTTP Auth for Crowd's REST API? I get authentication failed but I'm not sure how to set the username and password. I tried setting it up in the application's web.xml but it does not seem to work.

I figured this out, I need to send the username and password for the application
