Jaime Sotelo Trujillo July 20, 2020

I try to update the retention period of log, but it is not possible, it only allows me 6 months. I require more time. How can I update this value, and why it is not possible to exceed 6 months?

Hello Jamie, admins are not allowed to increase retention period to up to a year or more. As the number of logged events affect the size and performance of the database, which is why storing the audit log in database is set be a short-term solution. See How do I know what retention period is good for my audit log?

The above KB is for Jira Server version, but I think it does apply for cloud side of things. You can get in touch with Atlassian Support to check if they will increase it for you. You can also open a feature request with Atlassian like this one JRACLOUD-68267
