where confluence store space or global customize template

I have some complex template which doesn't work with source editor, so when I want to convert a page into template with variable, there have a lot of string replace works.

I was thinking use source editor, but after open with source editor so embedded macro stop working.

the the last solution I am thinking direct edit the template file from file system or database, need some help.

I would recommend instead of trying to edit the templates directly that you utilize Blueprints.
