webDAV addon for firefox

i installed webDAV on my Firefox.

BUT:

I configured it like the guide said. When i try to open the my excel file, nothing happens. I can press the button "edit in office" 100 times, nothing happens.

I am not exactly sure why this is happening but there are a few reasons it can. First, we have excel installed yes (I assume so but ya never know)? Second, in the webdav connector did we specify the extensions to use in Fire Fox? For example, if xls is defined but xlslx is not the app is not smart enough to know that xlsx is an excel file as well. Finally, Windows machines have issues with non-ssl communication and webdav, do we have SSL setup on the site? If not then we may need to make changes to the windows registry to allow non-ssl communication.
