tagging users in Confluence has stopped working for all users

All of sudden all users are unable to tag users in the comments section on Confluence pages.

We can still tag them when we edit the confluence page. We haven't made any changes to Confluence since it was working last.

Any ideas?

Community moderators have prevented the ability to post new answers.

did you try to rebuild your search index?

If it's not working - have a look on rebuilding content index from scratch.
