Question - can multiple people edit a Microsoft Office file using the "Atlassian Companion" app at the same time? I briefly tested it with a coworker - we both opened the same file to edit using the "Atlassian Companion" app at the same time, but I did not see the changes my coworker made in the file until after they uploaded the updated file back to Confluence. If I had made changes at the same time and uploaded them, would Confluence have merged both changes into the file?
Hi @Tamaki Hiratsuka ,
Atlassian Companion will allow multiple people to "edit" the same attachment. However it does not enable real-time collaboration in the desktop application. If two people are editing the same version of the attachment and they both upload it to Confluence, then two new versions of the attachment will be stored in Confluence. The person who uploaded the attachment last will have their version appear as the "latest version", which shows in the attachment preview.
Feel free to vote on our public suggestions for having Companion detect if the version you are currently editing is out of date: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-57955 & https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-57886
If you would like to lock attachments such that only one user can edit them at a time, then have a look at the Cenote Lockpoint marketpace app.
