inactive Watchers on Pages / Space get also notifications or not ?

Some users leave the company and set to inactive.

Have I check all pages to remove them from watchers - list ?

I just tested on Confluence Cloud (noticed the Cloud tags on the question) and my deactivated test user did not receive an email from a watched page.

The user was still visible as a watcher on the page and when reactivated, once more received emails. I imagine it is designed that way so when the user is reactivated they don't lose all their watched pages. This would be handy when accounts are deactivated and reactivated later for example, in the case of contractors who often come and go, or in the case of users going on extended leave.
