how to inherit permissions from parent to child

How can you re-apply permissions on child items? permissions are inherited but it’s not inheriting the parent permissions as they change.

Which permissions are you looking at? Confluence doesn't need to "apply" permissions, they are calculated as people view or try to edit pages.
