help with configuring mod_rewrite

We have the requirement to change the access URL for our confluence instance from http://confluence.internal.local to http://confluence.company.com and from my understanding this would require the configuration of Apache mod_rewrite in order to achive what the business needs. We are running version 5.7.4, I have no knowledge of Apache, I would be grateful for some simple steps in order to achieve this.

I appreciate your help in advance.

Hi Eduardo Thank you for your reply. I will be honest here, as I have no knowledge of Apache or Confluence. I have previously looked at that link and followed up to step 3 where it takes me over mod_rewrite and I completely lost it there.
